George Joanou

U.S. Veteran

George Joanou 75, of Las Vegas passed away from complications of heart and kidney disease. He leaves his beloved wife Myrna, five children, John, Jordan, Jonya, and Jeffrey, and 10 grandchildren. He was a '54 graduate of Linsly Military Institute, and attended West Virginia University. He was born January 4, 1937 to John Frank and Gazel Joanou of Wheeling WV and has a beloved brother Frank and family there. His USAF military career spanned 28 years. He had reached the highest enlisted rank of Chief Master Sergeant before retiring in 1989. His military decorations including the Bronze Star for Vietnam and multiple medals for Meritorious and Joint service, Good Conduct, National Defense, Korean war, Framed Palm, and Cross of Gallantry. He was of Greek Orthodox faith. Viewing to be held from 6p-9p on Saturday March 10, 2012 at Hites Funeral Home.
